Harry Buttimer Distinguished Administrator Award

The Buttimer is ACCCA’s oldest and most prestigious award. Named for the late Harry Buttimer, the award symbolizes the qualities for which he was known – integrity; principle; compassion; strength in leadership; contributions to colleagues and the profession; and contributions to the college district and community.

As a founding member of ACCCA and its first Legislative Commission Chairperson, Harry Buttimer's contributions helped to establish the Association as a stakeholder in community college finance and legislation and his leadership helped to set the foundation for programs and services we are still providing to members today.

A nomination for the Buttimer Award requires strong evidence of the above characteristics and substantial support by one’s peers. Final selection of the winner is made by the award selection committee. As you review all of the previous winners, you get a sense of the history of ACCCA and of the community college system of California.
